Experience Northumberland National Park
Our Story
Hesleyside Hall has been the ancestral home of the Border Reiver Charlton family for over 750 years and today is home to Anna and William Charlton and their 3 children. Part of the magnificent 4,000 acre Hesleyside Estate, the Hall is steeped in history and sits in Capability Brown designed parkland as well as being part of the Northumberland National Park and sitting under the world renowned Dark Skies Reserve, famous for having the best view of the milky way in England.
Paradise
Anna and William feel incredibly lucky to live in such a magnificent natural paradise, surrounded by ancient woodland, the North Tyne river and an abundance of wildlife and are passionate about sharing the beauty of their surroundings with others. A chance holiday to Argentina saw Anna and William staying and working on a cattle ranch in Patagonia where they fell in love with a more simplistic way of life and their temporary home, an adorable little shepherds hut on wheels.
Luxury Glamping
From that moment, they were determined to bring the shepherds hut way of life to Hesleyside. Launched in 2013, Hesleyside Huts now has 3 shepherds huts, 2 cabins, a treehouse and a tower hidden away around the Hesleyside Estate, each individually designed by Anna with painstaking attention to detail and dedicated to offering a luxury glamping experience in a small but perfectly formed space.
It’s very unique and you feel independent and out there in the wild. I wish the checkout wasn’t so early at 10am. 12pm would have been great so it doesn’t feel like rushed in the morning and you get to sleep with less stress. 2 x sacks of wood lasted us the two nights and even managed to do a lil bbq with it."
We most definitely will stay again."
You have everything you need inside to survive. The bathroom has a modern feel without losing the charm of the hut. The bed was very comfortable. The view from the verandah is beautiful and the amount of wildlife around is amazing. It really feels you’re in the wild without sacrificing the comforts of home. Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better base at which to spend our long weekend. Will be back!!!

Thoughtful touches throughout and the finish makes it worth every penny.
